Warrior is an original play written and starring Karen Egan which was part of Dublin Theatre Festival 2023. When asked to describe it the best I could come up with is it was a sci-fi play with music about cancer and Kimmage, which didn’t do it justice in the slightest! I took inspiration from all the classic Sci Fi’s (Star Trek, Star Wars, Star Gate), more current shows (Westworld, Black Mirror) as well as Renaissance paintings, in particular Da Vinci’s Vitruvian Man and Botticelli’s Birth of Venus. The result was a sculptural piece which could transform through projection and lighting to achieve a high tech performance.
